Antigua is a paradise island with the clearest of aquamarine waters and the softest of white sand. It is an idyllic retreat with a fabulous climate and perfect scenery. Situated in the eastern Caribbean, Antigua is the largest of the Leeward Islands and is only 14 miles long and 11 miles wide. The soft white sands that surround this tropical island form some of the best beaches in the Caribbean. With 365 picturesque beaches, there is one for every day of the year!

The natural scenery here is what dreams are made of, behind every corner lies a dazzling seascape, one more beautiful than the last, with every coastal indent sheltering a secluded cove or sweeping bay. Scattered along the coast are some of the best Caribbean resorts and hotels offering ultimate luxury in relaxing surroundings.

It's hard to beat Antigua as a beach destination; it enjoys one of the driest climates in the whole Caribbean and has a great choice of watersports. The capital, St. John's, is very picturesque with brightly coloured buildings, colonial architecture and quaint shops. There are several duty free shopping complexes, with a good selection of cosmetics, alcohol and cigarettes at discounted prices. The weekend public market is lively and atmospheric and a lovely place to browse around in the sunshine.

For those who enjoy sightseeing, Nelson's Dockyard in the village of English Harbour is worth a visit, as well as Betty's Hope, an 18th century restored sugar mill near Pares Village. Meet the locals and party hearty on Sunday in Shirley Heights, featuring steel and reggae bands, open-air barbeque dining, rum cocktails and a spectacular sunset!
