Borneo

The Island of Borneo is divided into 4 states, Malaysian Sabah & Sarawak, the independent state of Brunei and the Indonesian state of Kalimantan. The Joe Walsh Tours programme concentrates on the beautiful state of Sabah in Malaysian Borneo, home to the Orang-utan and one of only two natural habitats for this beautiful endangered species.

Sabah is a paradise for botanists, divers, mountaineers and just about anyone who wants to be close to nature. It is one of the last few unspoiled places left in the world, here you will find great natural beauty featuring awe-inspiring mountain ranges and lush rainforest jungle, perfect sandy beaches and crystal clear waters.

The capital Kota Kinabulu takes its name from nearby Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in South East Asia. Discover Kinabalu National Park with its indigenous beauty and one of the world’s most important biological regions. Rural life consists of tiny villages with rubber and coconut plantations, lush paddy fields and colourful markets. The locals are friendly and will charm you with the warmth of their welcome and hospitality.
