Sample itinerary:

Day 1 – Rome
Depart Dublin Airport on direct flight to Rome. On arrival you will be met by your Joe Walsh Tours representative and transferred to our hotel for three nights on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2 - Introduction to the Eternal City
You will begin your week with a guided orientation tour of Rome. Your expert local guide will highlight some of the city’s most important, famous and breathtaking sights, such as the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, the Circus Maximus, the King Victor Emmanuel Monument, St. Peter’s Basilica and more.

Day 3 - Explore Rome at leisure
Take time out today to explore the wonders of Ancient, Christian, Baroque or Renaissance Rome at your leisure. Enjoy a stroll through the cobblestone streets of the city centre, window-shopping or take a seat at a chic street side cafe and enjoy a glass of wine or sample some of the local fare.

Day 4 - Sorrento
After breakfast bid Rome ‘arrivederci’ and leave for Sorrento, where you will stay for four nights with breakfast and three course evening meal served each day at hotel. En route to Sorrento enjoy a visit to the ancient town of Pompeii, which lies at the foot of Mount Vesuvius. Here you will experience an incredible journey back to life in Roman times. Life in the 1st century was preserved in this renowned World Heritage site when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79AD. The volcanic ash and rock captured the daily city scenes, as well as the local residents, sealed forever in their death pose. Excavation began in 1748 and continues today with approximately 110 of the 160 acres of this ancient city excavated to date. Entrance fees to Pompeii excavations are payable locally.

Day 5 - Isle of Capri (Optional)
This morning you have the option of taking the ferry to the legendary island of Capri, which was once home to Roman Emperor Tiberius. Admire bustling, colourful scenes from the marina or enjoy breathtaking views from the scenic town of Anacapri. Take a mini-cruise around the bay and islands of Ischia and Procida or make an excursion to the magical Blue Grotto (payable locally).

Day 6 - Amalfi Coast
Today you will enjoy a journey along the Amalfi Coast - one the most spectacular coastlines in Europe, if not the world. Not only will you enjoy breathtaking views, you will also have the chance to visit the pretty town of Amalfi, with time to shop for ceramics or to try some of the local cuisine. The famous cathedral in Amalfi town centre is well worth a visit and the charming cobbled streets just beg to be explored.

Day 7 - Sorrento at leisure
Day at leisure in Sorrento to do all your last minute shopping and sightseeing or just bask in the sun.

Day 8 - Return home
Depart Sorrento to connect with your return flight to Dublin from either Rome or Naples.
