Estoril

Estoril is an upmarket and cosmopolitan resort with sandy beaches, excellent hotels, a selection of golf courses and a vibrant atmosphere. Enjoy a variety of recreation activities ranging from a motor-racing circuit to the largest casino in Europe. Developed as an international tourist centre in the early 20th century, this small locality manages to retain its traditional charms while still offering a modern array of conveniences. There are plenty beaches to choose from in the locality – Carcavelos beach is popular with surfers and is a good place to watch the local daredevils“catch a wave”, Parede is a small beach and the high iodine content of the seawater renowned for its healing properties, so much so that there’s a specialist orthopaedic hospital there, as well as São Pedro which is a large sandy beach with good access and facilities.

Cascais

Cascais is a refined and sophisticated town, rich in culture and relaxed charm. Surrounded by beautiful beaches, which are overlooked by spectacular cliffs, it is a delightful seaside resort with a multitude of activities and facilities to engage you. Your days in Cascais are spent largely at leisure – stroll through the charming narrow streets, browse the trendy shops and souvenir outlets and discover excellent local restaurants and lively bars. Enjoy the scenic promenade walk from Cascais beach to Estoril and stop off to enjoy a relaxed coffee in a quaint local café en route.

Boca do Inferno: We recommend a trip to the intriguing ‘Boca do Inferno’ (Hell’s Mouth), situated just outside Cascais, it is a spectacular sight as the waves crash against the cliff face.

Lisbon: A day trip to the city is an easy excursion using the reliable local train service, shop till you drop in the high-street shops and designer emporiums or visit the Castle of São Jorge and the rambling Alfama old town.
