World War II Battlefields

Visiting the World War battlefields and monuments that pay tribute to those who fought is a thought-provoking experience that will boost student interest and deepen their understanding of European history.

NORMANDY
D Day, the Battle of Normandy, all names that remind us of the Liberation of France and the beginning of the end of the War in Europe. About 66,000 troops from Ireland fought in British uniform in this campaign. This tour introduces students to Northern France and affords an ample opportunity to visit cemeteries, museums and landing beaches associated with this famous campaign. Scenes from ‘Band of Brothers’ and ‘Saving Private Ryan’ will come to life as you explore this battlefield.
